We like the Jungfrau region a lot. Here you find the small villages of Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Murren, surrounded by the the 4000 metres high mountains of Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau.
Zermatt is another lovely village. This car free village is full of charming old wooden houses and the conditions for skiing and hiking great.
Switzerland is also a perfect country to start hiking with small kids since you can make short easy hikes filled with stunning experiences like hiking to lovely lakes like Bachalpsee, swimming to waterfalls in Oeschiensee or walking in the snow in the middle of Summer in the Jungfrau region. Kids up to 6 go for free on all lifts.
Switzerland has four national languages: German, French, Italian and Romansch. In Zürich, Zermatt and the Jungfrau region the main language is German. Most people also speak English.
