The Lisbon Marathon and the Luso Portugal half Marathon takes place on October 11 in 2020 on the same day in the morning.
The Lisbon marathon starts in Cascais, 30 kilometres west of Lisbon, and ends at Praca do Comercio in the city center.
The Luso Portugal half Marathon starts on the Vasco da Gama bridge and also ends at Praca do Comercio.
In 2020 the Lisbon Marathon takes place on Sunday October 11 at 08:00 p.m. in the town of Cascais. It is the 33rd edition.
The course is lovely and takes you along the coast passing by Estoril and finally entering the very center of Lisbon at Praca do Comercio.

The Luso Portugal Half Marathon also takes place on Sunday October 11 at 10:30. It starts at the Vasco da Gama Bridge and ends, like the marathon, at Praca do Comercio. The 21 km course passes the north area of the city with some river side views.
The Luso Half Marathon is spectacular in that it starts on the Vasco da Gama Bridge and that 5 kilometres of the race runs through the city center (with a ascent in the end!).
The Lisbon Marathon and the Luso Portugal Half Marathon are perfect if you are a group of 2 or more who wants to run different distances as they are on the very same day and time.
It is super easy to apply, you just fill in the application and is accepted. In 2019 there were no queu or special restrictions to be accepted. Also, you do not need a health certificate like in France or Italy.
A really nice t-shirt and a medal is included in the application fee for about 50 Euros (marathon) and 30 Euros (half marathon).
Where to stay?
When running a race it is a great thing to stay either close to the starting point or the finishing point. If you stay in Cascais you do not have to get up as early in the morning as if you need transportation from Lisbon. On the other hand, you have the transfer after the competion instead.
How to get to the start of the Lisbon Marathon?
From Lisbon you go to Cascais from the station Cais do Sodré, near the metro of the same name. From Lisbon there are trains every 20 minutes and travel time is about 40 minutes.
On the race day, transportation is free on all buses, metro and trains upon presentation of the bib number. Do note that the metro starts too late to make you to the station Cais do Sodré on time.
How to get to the start of the Luso Portugal Half Marathon?
From Lisbon you go to the Oriente station by metro in the morning. From there are free buses for transport to the Vasco da Gama Bridge with very short waiting lines.
You have to be at the Oriente station for the last bus which leaves at 9:00 p.m.
